My Steady Beau
Some I can disregard and discard-
sometimes I just want to play,
so I choose myself a boy toy
who will let me have my way.
I turn from the serious,
avoiding maturity’s path-
I’m not looking for a life mate now,
just some fun and laughs.
I don’t want nothing deep.
I’m not ready to reopen my heart,
just a little man attention-
for me, that’s enough of a start.
I just want to tap my toes in,
not go fully under water.
I claim the right at this given time
to define my best fitting borders.
Life has been hard so far.
I’m not ready to be in love.
I feel I've given enough of myself-
I am now my primary cause.
Some may have their own opinion
about the kind of person I have been
but I know what I deserve-
that’s all that matters in the end.
So let’s keep the serious light,
the relations, hot and heavy.
Freedom must endure.
My dreams are my steady.
