Bad Day Survival!

Bad Day Survival

What do you do
  when you have a day
   so hard to get through
   that you seriously doubt
  your dreams will come true?

For this day,
  it seems...
you lack the mind, will or power,
  not even to mention
  the second, minutes or hours.
.
You feel yourself silly
  for thinking so high.
You feel yourself weak
as tears mount in your eyes.

You feel yourself unworthy
'cause you can’t handle a task.
You feel yourself angry,
  wishing lost opportunity back.

You feel yourself selfish
  for crying “Woe is me”.
You feel so alone...
  convinced...
  you’re the only one
  with your needs.

What do you do on those sad days
  those incredibly bad days,
those I can’t wait until it’s all over days?

Do what you should anyway.
Dreamer,
please continue to pray.

About "Bad Day Survival"

“Bad Day Survival” is a pretty straightforward piece. We all have bad days and we all have awful days. Some days can be so brutal that we question everything about ourselves and our lives. We may even beat ourselves up for finding ourselves at such a low point.
Bad days are inevitable. As adults, we know that life isn't all peaches and cream. When I was younger, I would let one bad day turn into a string of them. I hadn't yet learned how to take the mistakes or lessons from one bad day and work them in my favor. I hadn't yet learned how to focus on the good things instead of the bad.
Thankfully, that changed as I matured. My relationship with God brought about that maturity. I learned for myself that God is always with you even when life circumstances might momentarily suggest otherwise. Now when I encounter an obstacle in a certain area, my faith propels me to move forward in the areas that I can. Faith propels me to do all that I am able in preparation for the blessing that I know is coming.
My mother also instilled in me something to help me get out of a bad day rut. She would always advise me to work with what I had until I could do better. The next to last line of my “Bad Day Survival” is “do what you should anyway”. That not only applies to prayer but it also applies to working towards goals. When I make the most of what I have and I work with what I have, God can then trust me with that next blessing.
