Merry Christmas! Happy Hanakkuh! Feliz Navidad! Happy Kwanzaa! and Happy Holidays! (for everyone not covered under my first four greetings)
The holidays bring out the best in many people. Unfortunately, they bring out the worst in others. The latter seem to have forgotten what this season is all about. It's about celebrating the birth and life of the Prince of Peace. Accordingly, many people of many faiths recognize this as the time of year to spread extra kindness and joy. This often has to be done even in the face of those who seem to have no idea what peace is.
While you and yours are enjoying the season, I hope that you send up a special prayer for those who are having a hard time. The holidays are hard for many. I get it. I usually get a spell of the blues myself. My birthday is in December and they have not been the same since my mother passed. Again, I get it. Don't judge those who are downhearted during this time of year. Pray for them and check on them when you can. Show them as much love as possible.
Speaking of the holiday season once more and Who is the season is about, I'm sharing "Can We?" While we are talking about what we got and what we gave, let's not forget to talk about the Reason for the season!
Can we talk about God
and His glory?
Can I mention His name
without your worry?
Will it elevate or escalate
the air that we share?
Can we disagree humanly
yet agree that He is there?
What would you say
to those who stray
and those who wish to learn?
What would you be willing
to receive and believe
if the tables turned?
Can we talk about God
and this journey...
particularly, yours and my story?
The ups of life and the down,
every moment that God was found:
His certain moves that advanced your cause,
unexpected miracles that put doubt on pause...
His truths that we know only
because of how deeply we feel,
even when the world tells us
that what we feel can not be real.
Can we talk with love
to erase the hate,
to enjoy all the evidence
that God is great?
That conversation is capable of lasting
an incredible amount of long time.
Even a smidgen of His goodness
will intensely blow your mind.
So may we commence
with the Godly discussions?
As long as we're alive,
we can still learn something.
